You can see how big the ship is on here!!!

Next day was Lisbon, we had been here last November but it was a lot hotter now. Sadly the city centre is a bit run down but we took the bus to Belem, a little village just along the Coast and it was lovely here.

The big buildings in the first two photos are the Maritime Museum in Belem, the third one is of two street performers in Lisbon and the last one must be the poshest Starbucks in the World!!!

Our last Port of Call was Vigo. Another small beautiful city, and again blooming hot.

We left Vigo at around 3o clock in the afternoon and after two nights at sea we arrived back in Southampton.

A very enjoyable holiday spent on the company of our friends, Bob and Helen Dodds and Rachael Dodds and Danny Hedley. Roll on next May for our next one, back to The Fjords or the Baltic we think.

Independence of The Seas. Part 1

Hi folks,

Wll we are back from our 12 day voyage to The Meditteranean aboard Royal Carribbean's Independence of the Seas
We embarked in Southampton on 20th September and checked in to our Balcony Cabin, all the way up on Deck 8. it is the biggest cabin we have had on board a cruise liner.

A four sweater settee and a huge bed, also a bathroom with shower and a large double wardrobe.

A couple of days at sea gave us time to explore the ship and see what it had to offer.

The Climbing Wall

The Flow Rider

After a couple of days at sea we arrived in Gibraltar on 24th and a trip to see the Apes was on the agenda.

The weather was scorching so a beer was called for. Gibraltar Beer brewed in The Isle of Man with Gibraltar hops!!

We also visited the caves

24th September brought us to Cartagena, Spain and it is 29 degrees, Very hot. Went and had a wander around the city centre , and came back and the deck of the Balcony is too hot to stand on!!!

The Roman Amphitheatre

Then we went to Barcelona

I was so looking forward to seeing The Sagrada Familia but I must say I was disappointed. Covered in netting and sheeting and portacabins all along the front. I am not sure if I like it, may need another trip to make sure.

It is a beautiful city though , and it was HOT

There was a fabulous Food Market on Las Ramblas

Next day was Palma, Mallorca.

. Another hot and beautiful day, and a fabulous city with a beautiful cathedral

A day at sea was next, time to wander around the ship

This is the Royal Promenade, the atrium that goes from Deck 5 to Deck 9 and is full of shops, a Pizza Parlour, Ben and Jerrys , Cupcake Cupboard, and a Pub.

Our cabin was on deck 8 and you can see our vestibule if you count up from Deck 5 where the shops are so we are one down from the ceiling. This gave a great view of the parties etc they had some nights.

Will do another post later.
